PAT Hold the First Public Hearing Towards Ranong Port Development Project

On the 8th and 9th of April 2021, the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) held the first public hearing with the stakeholders towards Ranong Port Development Projects. The event took place at the Heritage Grand Convention Hotel, Ranong, with the presence of ADM. Chanin Kanhirun, PAT Board of Commissioners as the chairman at the event, following by Lt. JG.Kamolsak Promprayoon, R.T.N., PAT Director-General, representatives from both public and private sectors, as well as members of the community and media outlets.

PAT has entrusted its consortia; Chotchida Consultants Co., Ltd, and Greener Consultant Co., Ltd., to study the detail design and Environment Impacts Assessment (EIA) of Ranong Port Development Projects along with the assessment report on the effects.

Besides, one of the public hearing event’s objective is to reflect stakeholders’ expectations towards Ranong Port Development Projects to improve Ranong Port efficiency and infrastructures in order to comply with the government’s policy in supporting the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC) by having the Ranong Port as the Western Gateway.

In brief, the market sounding event is the first bublic meeting which was part of the EIA study by having the government sectors, private companies, and stakeholders participated in sharing their opinions and concerns towards the development projects. Particularly, PAT will take these comments as an input to define scope of research study and to reassure that all of the concerns are addressed and taken into considerations. This first public hearing is expected to help strengthen the cooperation between PAT and the community in the future.
